Bacon Buttie, Bacon Butty, Bacon Sarnie or a Bacon Sandwich

No matter what you call it or how you spell it,
it is one of Britain’s favourite foods.

Lovers of the T.V. show “keeping up appearances” recall Onslow saying “I sure
could use a bacon buttie” and daisy would be off to the store to get some bacon.

  • 2 -3 slices CTC bacon, per person
  • 2 slices of thick sliced bread or 1 crusty roll, per person
  • butter (optional)
  • HP or Daddie’s steak sauce (optional)
  • Worcestershire sauce (optional)

Directions:

1. Cook the bacon under a preheated oven grill for seven minutes at about 240C/475F - turning half way through the cooking time or may fry in a fry pan where the bun can be toasted in the bacon grease.

2. Cook until crispy, but not burnt or too dry.

3. Butter the two slices of bread if not toasted in the fry pan and place the grilled or fried bacon between the two slices of bread to make a sandwich.

4. Add sauces to taste.

6. Enjoy!

Note some prefer a sausage buttie. A fried egg, lettuce, tomato or cheese may be added but the true Buttie is just bacon on a bacon grease fried bun.
